What are cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device on subsequent visits. Cookies contain only what the website chooses to put in them — they do not give any website access to your computer, files, or personal data beyond what you have provided.

What ConvOps sets

The ConvOps marketing site (convops.io) sets analytics cookies via PostHog, hosted in the EU. The ConvOps portal (app.convops.io) additionally sets authentication session cookies via Clerk. The table below lists every cookie set across both properties.

Cookie namePurposeTypeDuration
ph_phc_uQDP8nFriKLiA6WQ5KUxvYzWRLctFvXZzyneJq5iJoKU_posthogStores a randomly-generated visitor ID so ConvOps can count unique page views and understand navigation patterns. Set by the PostHog analytics library, which sends data to eu.i.posthog.com (EU-hosted). No personal data is stored in the cookie itself unless you are signed into the portal, in which case your Clerk user ID, email, and name are associated with this identifier.Analytics1 year
convops_consentRecords that you have acknowledged the ConvOps cookie banner. Set by ConvOps when you click "Got it" or save preferences. Contains only the value "accepted" or "analytics=false". No tracking data.Functional1 year
__session, __client_uat (app.convops.io only)Authentication session cookies set by Clerk on the portal (app.convops.io). __session is a short-lived JWT that keeps you logged in. __client_uat is a timestamp cookie used by Clerk to detect when the session was last updated. These cookies are not set when you browse the marketing site (convops.io).Strictly necessary__session: session-length. __client_uat: up to 1 year

Cookies we do not use

Based on a review of the ConvOps codebase, the following cookie categories are not present:

  • Advertising or remarketing cookies
  • Third-party tracking pixels (Meta Pixel, Google Ads tag, LinkedIn Insight Tag)
  • Cross-site tracking via device fingerprinting
  • A/B testing cookies from third-party platforms
  • Social media sharing or embeds that set cookies

Managing your preferences

A cookie banner appears on your first visit to convops.io. Click Manage preferences to turn analytics cookies on or off. Your choice is saved in the convops_consent cookie and honoured on future visits.

You can also delete all ConvOps cookies by clearing your browser's cookies for convops.io. If you are signed into the portal, this will log you out.

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies in their privacy settings. Blocking authentication cookies (the Clerk cookies on app.convops.io) will prevent the portal from working.
